Testing The Therabody RecoveryAir

The Therabody Air which supports venous return
Boots that come in small, Medium and Large...

Recovery doesn't seem to be too much of a problem at this time of year, however, I couldn't resist the opportunity to test the new Therabody Recovery Air when working alongside them on Oxford St in London. The basic premise is that the boots gradually squeeze the blood from your legs using pneumatic compression. Although this may sound alarming, its actually very therapeutic. After a 20 minute treatment (which involves multiple compressions and periods of relaxation) the boots do actually appear to do what they say they do. I removed the boots to find my legs feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. After being on my feet for 8 hours this was a welcome feeling which lasted a couple of hours. In fairness to Therabody, gravity makes venous return (returning blood to the heart) a challenge for the body.

The Therabody resolves this issue. At £1129 the pro version seems a bit extravagant, but, the standard version (which is basically the same minus the ability to vary the time and pressure) seems more reasonable at £600.

The overall verdict was 9/10 (great). It did leave me wondering if I would get the same effect from lying on my back with my legs vertically against the wall??? With £600 in my pocket to boot I might take my chances...
